In heating and chilled water systems the circulating water will undoubtedly contain debris which entered the pipework during site storage and construction. The debris may consist of pipe scale, thread turnings, rust particles, thread sealing tape or jointing paste and air bourne dust particles. If left within the pipework this debris may cause erosion to bends and fittings, and cause damage to pumps and control valves.

Modern systems contain many small control valves in which the seats could become damaged or blocked, these types of valve require a clean system to work efficiently. Dirt separators are an efficient way of removing debris and are capable of removing small particles down to 5 µm (microns) in size. Debris is collected in the large chamber allowing longer periods between cleaning, which can be done whilst the system is operating.

The removal of air from the boiler and pipework is an essential process. The presence of oxygen in your heating system causes rapid corrosion. Carbon dioxide will dissolve in water, resulting in low pH levels and the production of corrosive carbonic acid. Low pH levels in feedwater cause severe acid attack throughout the boiler system.

While dissolved gases and low pH levels in the boiler can be controlled or removed by the addition of chemicals, it is more economical and thermally efficient to remove these gases mechanically. This mechanical process is known as deaeration and will increase the life of a steam system dramatically.

If you already have a Smart Thermostat – Starter Kit including the Internet Bridge, then you only need Smart Radiator Thermostats, not the Smart Radiator Thermostat – Starter Kit.

It turns the heating down when no one is home and starts to pre-heat when it detects the first person returning.

If you already have a Smart Radiator Thermostat – Starter Kit or a Smart Thermostat – Starter Kit of any version (V2/V3/V3+) then you can supplement these with additional Smart Radiator Thermostats to independently control multiple radiators.

It is also needed to connect the tado° Smart Thermostat to your heating system if there is no room thermostat or if you have a wireless room thermostat. The Extension Kit works then as a wireless receiver for the heating system.

The Extension Kit can only be used as an additional product of the Smart Thermostat – Starter Kit.

No thermostat, wireless thermostat or to replace a programmer

The Extension Kit is needed in addition to a Smart Thermostat. The Extension Kit connects directly to the boiler via cable and communicates with the Smart Thermostat via radio. It can also be used to replace an existing programmer (standard UK backplate).
